Napoli Star Wants Out With European Giants Circling

Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has told manager Antonio Conte that he wants to leave the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Georgian international, who joined the club in 2022, is a crucial part of a Napoli squad that currently sits on top of the Serie A table with 44 points from 19 games. Kvaratskhelia has contributed five goals and three assists so far this season.

Despite his contract running through 2027, however, Conte confirmed that Kvaratskhelia wants a new challenge during a news conference ahead of Napoli’s Serie A game against Hellas Verona on Sunday.

“We are talking about an important player. A player who was already due to leave in the summer,” Conte said. “I also wanted to have technical certainties. Quality is needed in addition to the work I demanded, as well as the confirmation of certain players, including Khvicha, who, as you know, had asked to be sold in the summer. And he wasn’t the only one.

“He asked the club to be sold, without mincing his words. This is what was said to me, the player has confirmed his decision to me. Personally I feel very disappointed because I spent six months trying to make [Kvaratskhelia] feel at the center of the project, working with him, showing him that we could do something great and also working with the club for six months on the renewal.

“From my point of view, it’s a great disappointment.

Premier League leaders Liverpool and French giants PSG are already circling, with PSG looking the most likely to sign the Georgian.

Although the Parisians are once again dominating Ligue 1, they have struggled in the Champions League. After six games, PSG has only seven points, and if the league stage were to end today, would not qualify for the knockout phase.

Kvaratskhelia’s quality on the ball and attacking prowess could be the answer for PSG as they look to salvage a frustrating Champions League campaign and still qualify for the knockout stages.

Where do you think Kvaratskhelia will end up? Let us know in the comments below!
