WWE Wrestlemania 40 Night One Predictions -Vimbai’s Version

The Road to Wrestlemania finally ends as the biggest wrestling event of the year is only a few hours away. There is much buzz surrounding this year’s Wrestlemania. Will Cody finally finish his story? Will the Bloodline help with continuing Roman’s historic reign? With a stacked card and much anticipation, let’s get into my predictions for Night One of Wrestlemania.

Women’s World Championship — Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Rhea Ripley has been dominating the women’s division long before becoming the Women’s World Champion. However, The Main Becky Lynch is no stranger when it comes to dominating in the women’s division either. Lynch is a former Wrestlemania headliner herself, and she hopes to claim the championship title after almost two years. Over the past couple of weeks, the two have been butting heads in an attempt to show dominance over the other. Despite the many heated interactions, Ripley is on too much of a hot streak to relinquish the belt at the moment. There’s too much riding on this for Ripley, and with that comes a championship retain.

PREDICTION: Rhea Ripley

Andrade & Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Escobar & Dominik Mysterio

Rey Mysterio has had his fair share of run-ins with Santos Escobar since Escobar’s betrayal in November, leading to his departure from the LWO and the formation of Legado Del Fantasma. While the tag match was initially set up to feature Rey Mysterio teaming up with up-and-coming star Dragon Lee, last night’s episode of Smackdown showed a change of plans. With the attack on Lee by Dominik Mysterio and Legado Del Fantasma, the returning Andrade showed his allyship with the LWO, ultimately leading to the unexpected partner for Rey. Given the events that transpired on Smackdown, Andrade and Rey Mysterio will teach Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar a lesson about what happens when you mess with the LWO.

PREDICTION: Andrade and Rey Mysterio

Intercontinental Championship — Gunther (c) vs. Sami Zayn

Gunther will enter Wrestlemania as champion for 666 days. The longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion looks to retain against former three-time Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn. After Zayn’s win in the gauntlet match, it seems like he has lost his stride, despite getting training from Alpha Academy’s own Chad Gable. Gable seems to have had more momentum going into the match that he isn’t even a part of, and Zayn doesn’t seem to be getting much attention. While his resilience is admirable, it’s no match against the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion.

PREDICTION: Gunther

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship — The Judgment Day (c) vs. #DIY vs. The Awesome Truth vs. The New Day vs. A-Town Down Under vs. New Catch Republic (Six Pack Ladder Match)

The Judgement Day is hoping to retain their titles and are looking to clean house, but there are some obstacles in their way. It is rumored that going into this match, there may be a split between the tag belts, meaning two possible winners. If this is true, it opens the door to many possibilities. Damien Priest is still the Money in the Bank holder, and this may play a factor down the line with the inevitable loss of their tag team titles. The Awesome Truth has been through a lot with The Judgement Day, and it’s time for them to claim some gold. Since their formation as a tag team, New Catch Republic has also shown why tag teams deserve their fair share of recognition.

PREDICTION: The Awesome Truth and New Catch Republic

Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill & Naomi vs. Damage CTRL

This newly created faction of Belair, Naomi, and Cargill is only the beginning of great things for these women. Cargill is one of the most talked about wrestlers in recent times, and she now has a chance to showcase her skills on the grandest stage of them all. With help from returning Naomi and the “EST of WWE” Bianca Belair, there’s no doubt that these women won’t run through Damage CTRL and put them in their place at Wrestlemania.

PREDICTION: Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi

Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso

This match has been building up since Jey Uso departed from the Bloodline. Jimmy Uso has interfered with Jey’s matches countless times since his departure and it has all led to this moment. There is arguably no other match on the card with this much emotional stakes and backing. Having Jey finally get his redemption on his brother and settle his business with the Bloodline at Wrestlemania is what he needs to finally lay this all to rest.

PREDICTION: Jey Uso

The Rock & Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins

The highly anticipated main event of Night One comes with its own set of unpredictability. The Rock has made his presence known with The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes, and with the help from cousin and WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns, it’s going to be one hell of a fight. The Bloodline plans to wreak havoc on Rhodes and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.  The destruction caused by the Bloodline on Night One will be another added layer to Cody’s completion of his story. Going into the second night of Wrestlemania, the deck will be stacked against Cody Rhodes, making a potential victory that much sweeter. With the constant mention of “Bloodline Rules” being heavily reiterated, there’s no way that stipulation doesn’t happen during the main event of Night Two.

PREDICTION: The Rock and Roman Reigns
