Chris Jericho has had a prosperous career in wrestling, but it could ultimately end when he faces this WWE veteran.
Jericho’s lengthy career in pro wrestling has put him face-to-face with some of the biggest names in the industry. Currently, Chris Jericho finds himself in AEW, where he’s a former World Champion and one of the top stars on the roster. But at 52-years-old, retirement could be around the corner, but who would be the best name to be his final opponent?
In 1990, at the age of 19, Chris Jericho began his pro wrestling career at the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling. During this time, he met Lance Storm, and the two would strike up a lifelong friendship, and even clash a few times in WWE. During an interview with Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Lance Storm joked that the two have a pact for him to be Jericho’s final opponent.
“That’s sort of the running joke between us because we’ve over the years made a pact because our very first match was against each other,” Storm said. “And I’ve always contended that it would be cool to do our last match with each other too and have us both bookend our careers. It’s like, dude, you have to retire at some point, or I’m not going to be able to do it. You’ve got to retire inside the next five or ten years, dude, I don’t want to do it at 75.”

Unfortunately for Lance Storm, he might just have to wait until they’re 75, as it doesn’t seem like Jericho is slowing down anytime soon. Chris Jericho recently faced rising NJPW star Will Ospreay at AEW All In 2023, but missed last weekend’s All Out PPV. Jericho seems to still want to achieve a few milestones in the promotion, so perhaps retirement isn’t anywhere close.
Chris Jericho believes he was Hulk Hogan’s last great match
After making his WWE debut in 1999, Jericho was put up against some of the biggest names at the time. Eventually, Y2J went face to face with WWE legend Hulk Hogan, in a match still praised by many fans online. Despite the DQ finish, Chris Jericho recently reacted to a clip of the match and posed the question if this was Hogan’s last great match.
The Hulkster also took on the best wrestlers in his era, but by the 2000s and the dissolution of WCW, the quality of his matches began to fall. Interestingly, today Chris Jericho is older than Hulk Hogan was when the two men clashed in 2002. Jericho has similarly been criticized online by some, so could it perhaps be time for that last match with Lance Storm after all?
