Tonight will be the first WWE Friday Night SmackDown since the WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event. It was there that we saw Roman Reigns retain his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship against the hometown hero, Sami Zayn.
It seems like Reigns will be moving on and setting his focus toward his match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. In addition, hopefully we get some more direction in a few different storylines that could lead up to WrestleMania.
Let’s take a peek at what is announced for tonight’s episode.
Rey Mysterio has been out of action since the supposed attack by his son that prevented him from entering the WWE Royal Rumble. This has the potential to be a very good matchup between two great wrestlers. On WWE Monday Night RAW this week, Dominik Mysterio mentioned this match in a backstage segment. Do not be surprised if we get an interference from Dominik tonight, furthering his feud with his father. This could potentially lead to a WrestleMania match between the two.
Madcap Moss was unsuccessful in his efforts to take the WWE Intercontinental Championship off of Gunther last week on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. He will now team up with Strowman and Ricochet to take on Gunther and Imperium. This should be a victory for Imperium, further developing Gunther’s dominant run as champion. A potential breakup between Ricochet and Braun Strowman would not come as a shock either.
This will be the first time since winning the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble that Rhea Ripley will come face to face with the woman she will be challenging at WrestleMania. There is a plethora of history between these two women, and it is definitely going to be one of the most anticipated match ups leading into the event. The crowd should go nuts for this standoff.
It looks like Bray Wyatt will be making an appearance in the Firefly Funhouse this week on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. Wyatt is one of the most popular wrestlers on the WWE roster. After his recent feud with LA Knight, it was not too clear who Wyatt would be challenging next.
Last week, he challenged the winner of Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. Lashley won by disqualification and then mentioned Wyatt on WWE Monday Night RAW. This should serve as further confirmation that this is the direction they are going. Lashley could make an appearance in The Firefly Funhouse tonight.
Either way, this is going to be a fun segment as always and fans should be excited about a feud they haven’t seen before between Wyatt and Lashley.
