WWE Clash at the Castle 2022: Match Card Overview and Staff Predictions
WWE Clash at the Castle has all of the potential to be a really good show. The card is stacked with high-quality matches and feuds. The event is going to be filled with wrestling fans from all across the world. Tickets sold are almost the same as this past WrestleMania. This is a preview of each match and what to expect. Also, I asked fellow employees for their predictions for the show. Garrett Burroughs and Dillon O’Brien answered the call.
Edge & Rey Mysterio vs Judgement Day
Judgement Day has been tormenting Edge, Rey Mysterio, and Dominik Mysterio over the past few months. When Edge returned recently, he vowed to “kill” the Judgement Day. Since then, he has been hunting them down at every turn. He is trying to stop the monster he created. Rey Mysterio has been teaming up with his son, Dominik Mysterio. Dominik has always been by Rey’s side when he goes to war. But this time, Rey wanted Edge to be his partner with him instead of Dominik. Dominik seems to have understood why Rey chose Edge over him. Dominik has been feeling the wrath of Rhea Ripley every week. These four men have been enemies for months and now get to fight it out in the ring.
Although I was hoping for a Rey Mysterio heel turn, I think we are getting a Dominik Mysterio one instead. Especially after the segment between Dominik and Rey when Rey told him he was choosing Edge instead. I think Dominik is going to turn on Rey, costing them the match, and join Judgement Day.

Matt Riddle vs Seth Rollins
Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins will not have to wait any longer to fight each other. This match was supposed to take place at SummerSlam, but Seth injured Riddle. In the weeks since these men have chased each other every week. The tension is high and these guys just don’t like each other. The feud was always hot, but recently it really heated up. On Monday Night Raw, Seth and Riddle had a sit-down interview and things got personal. It didn’t take long for the two to take a personal shot at each other and their families. If you couldn’t tell before, these guys hate each other. It’s going to be a must-see match these men finally step foot into the ring together and fight.
In my opinion, this is going to be the match of the night. WWE has done an incredible job building to this match. I’m more excited now than when I was for it happening at SummerSlam. I don’t think this is the end of the feud, but I think Riddle is going to pick up a good win and show fans a side of him, he isn’t familiar with.

Bianca Belair (c), Asuka, & Alex Bliss vs Bayley, Dakota Kai, & IYO SKY
Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY have been a menace to the women’s division since returning at SummerSlam. They came out and targeted Bianca Belair, but Belair had some backup. Asuka and Alexa Bliss came out to even the odds and help Belair. Since then, Bayley, Kai, and SKY have made it very clear they want to control the women’s division. Bliss and Asuka entered the women’s tag team tournament but ultimately lost in the semi-finals to Kai and SKY. Belair, Asuka, and Bliss all have common enemies in Bayley, Kai, and SKY, so they will be looking to prove they can work together to beat them. This will be Bayley, Kai, and SKY’s first time teaming together so they are looking to prove that they are indeed a force to be reckoned with in the women’s division.
I don’t think we are going to get the return of Sasha Banks and Naomi in this match at WWE Clash at the Castle. I think it’s important for Bayley, Kai, and SKY to have a big, clean win to establish themselves. Especially after Kai and SKY failed to win the women’s tag titles.

Intercontinental Championship Match
Sheamus vs Gunther (c)
Sheamus earned a shot at the Intercontinental championship at Clash at the Castle when he won a fatal five-way on Friday Night Smackdown. Gunther has been destroying opponents left and right since he won the Intercontinental championship. These are two of the most hard-hitting wrestlers in WWE, so this one is going to be a slugfest. Sheamus has never won the Intercontinental championship and it is the only belt missing from him getting the grand slam. Gunther is a former NXT UK world champion and had one of the longest title runs in the modern era for WWE. This match is going to be an absolute war between two of the heaviest hitters in WWE.
This one seems pretty straightforward. It’s going to be a hard-hitting slugfest and can be the best match on the card. Let’s pray for Sheamus’ chest.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match
Shayna Baszler vs Liv Morgan (c)
Liv Morgan is making her second title defense against Shayna Baszler. She is coming off of a controversial win against Ronda Rousey. Since losing her title, Rousey has been on a mean streak. She has been fined and arrested for the chaos she has caused. Morgan’s arm has been injured since her match against Rousey. She is looking to overcome the odds and her injury to retain her championship. Baszler is a former 2x NXT women’s champion and a 2x WWE women’s tag team champion. She is looking to capture her first world title in WWE since getting called up to the main roster. She knows what it takes to win the big matches and looking to dethrone Morgan as champion.
I think we are going to get a similar match to the Ronda Rousey one. Morgan is going to get dominated for most of the match and barely squeak out a win. I think Rousey is going to come out and cost Shayna the match, ultimately setting up a triple threat for the future.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match
Drew McIntyre vs Roman Reigns (c)
Roman Reigns is taking on a highly motivated opponent in Drew McIntyre. McIntyre has his eyes set on the world championships and is looking to dethrone Roman on one of the biggest stages of the year. Roman has been Universal champion for two years and WWE champion for almost six months. Roman is looking to keep his spot at the top of the industry by beating one of the best wrestlers in WWE, Drew McIntyre. This match is one of the biggest of the year thus far. Drew is a former world champion in his own right, so he knows what it’s like at the top. McIntyre has the home field advantage as the show is taking place in Cardiff, Whales. With the crowd behind him, Drew is looking to do what hasn’t been done in a very long time, beat Roman Reigns.
I’m predicting Austin Theory is going to attempt to cash in his Money in the Bank contract at WWE Clash at the Castle. But Adam Pearce is going to come out and tell him the contract is only for one title and Theory is going to pick the WWE championship. Thus, turning the match into a triple threat for only the WWE championship.
