WWE has been pushing out content for their new game, WWE 2K23. They have been making wrestling video games for over two decades, some are absolute classics, and others are the furthest thing from it.
WWE has been showcasing some clips from the game and recently just released some wrestler ratings. Now, wrestler ratings are always going to be a hot subject because WWE determines how well a wrestler does. You can have the best in-ring performer in the world be ranked low because they aren’t given a proper push by the company. So, it is important to keep that in mind.
While some of the ratings are good, others are just flat-out disrespectful.
Mysterio is the greatest luchador of all-time. He’s easily one of the best wrestlers of not only the past two decades but of all time.
It came as a shock when they announced he was rated at 82. That’s just straight-up disrespectful. Mysterio was on the cover of WWE 2K22 and had a rating of 90. It’s really hard to put into words just how insane Mysterio being at 82 is. To put it into perspective, let’s take a look at some superstars that are higher and around his rating.
Let’s start with the legends. The Undertaker is rated at 95 and The Rock is rated at 96. Mysterio is in the same tier as them and should be rated accordingly. Damian Priest had a rating of 84, a guy who has held one title in WWE. I like Priest, but he just shouldn’t be rated higher than Mysterio.
Meanwhile, Baron Corbin is rated at 83, yes you read that right. Baron Corbin is rated higher than Rey Mysterio and that’s coming from a guy who doesn’t hate Corbin. Johnny Gargano is rated at 84 and Karrion Kross is rated at 86. Two guys who have had no success in WWE are rated significantly higher than the legend Rey Mysterio.
WWE really disrespected Rey Mysterio by giving him a rating of 82. I know he hasn’t wrestled much, but he hasn’t lost a step in the ring. And his rating wasn’t the only one that was disrespectful. As a whole, I feel like WWE really missed the mark.
