Let’s be real about it; Tom Telesco was a dope and he was never going to build a championship roster with the roster. It was a complete slap in the face to the memory of Al Davis to hire him, in the first place. We can also sit here and pretend he did a wonderful job picking Brock Bowers. As long as we also recognize that they really wanted Michael Penix instead and “flipped a coin” on if they should take Terrion Arnold instead. Blind squirrel found nut…
It’s not arguable. Telesco needed to go. Keep in mind, his head coaching hires with the Chargers were Anthony Lynn and Brandon Staley. The Chargers improved drastically without Telesco in the building and it’s not an accident.
If you’re not smart enough to figure out that Telesco was a fraud, you can’t be helped. That’s all in the past. It’s about if the Raiders are smart enough to nail their next hire.
What the Raiders need is a supreme commander who understands how to build the team in the true memory of Al Davis (before he got old). A team with size and speed who intimidates opponents while they walk off the bus. A team that dominates both lines of scrimmage while being able to stretch the field with speed vertical.
The Raiders need someone who understands how to build through the draft and can properly evaluate talent.
I say all that to say this. The Raiders won’t find a better candidate than me. I’m just curious why they haven’t called me yet. The track record of NFL Draft analysis speaks for itself. You won’t find a better leader to run the organization than the person who built this media site from scratch.
I’ve made my peace with it. Trey is doing okay. I’ll keep running Vendetta Sports. I’m doing just fine. If a team was serious about winning, they would have gotten me on the phone already. They need me far more than I need them. The last 20 years of Raiders football is plenty of evidence to suggest that’s the case.
The Raiders probably won’t call me. I’m aware of that. Whoever they hire, I wish them luck because the truth of the matter is, you’re walking into a suicide mission with no real foundation. If the person who takes this job doesn’t understand that, their fate will be the same as those who have departed before him.
By the way, you’re in a division with Andy Reid, Sean Payton, and Jim Harbaugh. Better come in with a plan to re-establish a standard of excellence. A true leader who can evaluate talent is what the Raiders need. Good luck finding it while having the balls to compete against that group.
Heed the warning. You won’t find better than Trey. If the Raiders are smart, they will get me on the phone.
