Will Haason Reddick Skip Jets Mandatory Minicamp?

Trey has already written about how the New York Jets are not handling the Haason Reddick situation very well. That’s a good read and covers everything you need to know about the situation.

You’d think that when a team trades for someone who wants an extension, they’d give him one pretty soon after the fact. Well, Joe Douglas apparently does not believe in that. Instead, he traded for Reddick and the two sides can’t agree to terms on a new deal.

This is going to be a huge problem as the Jets are starting mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. When he was approached by Ryan Dunleavy, writer for the New York Post, Haason Reddick declined to speak.

Reddick has not been in or around the facility since being traded but was seen sporting Jets gear at an event recently. When he was asked if he would be attending mandatory minicamp this week, he did not offer a response. Reddick is likely looking for the financials to be in the neighborhood of guys like Watt and Garrett.

If the Jets aren’t careful and Dallas pays Micah Parsons and reset the market, the price for Reddick is only going to go up.

Haason Reddick has one remaining year on his deal worth $15 million ($14.25M base salary) this season, per Spotrac. Reddick has been both one of the best and most slept-on pass rushers since 2020, as he has 50.5 sacks over the last four seasons, which is fourth best in the NFL behind T.J. Watt (62), Myles Garrett (58), and Trey Hendrickson (53).

This New York Jets team is expected to make a major leap this season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers at the helm, but if this situation continues to linger and he can’t get up to game speed in time, that may throw a wrench in their plans.
