Will The Celtics Ever Give Tacko Fall A Real Opportunity?
Tacko Fall has been the biggest phenomenon in the NBA for the least amount of minutes on the floor. Tacko is currently on a two-way contract with Boston but has only seen action in 6 NBA games. Tacko hasn’t been given a chance to play meaningful minutes. What nobody realizes is that Fall has been proving himself. He’s just doing so with the Maine Red Claws.
The Maine Red Claws in the G-League are 28-11. Tacko Fall is a big reason why. In 23.3 minutes of action per night, Fall is averaging 12.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 3 blocks per contest. Oh, and he’s shooting (wait for it) 70.6 percent from the floor. Did you catch that? OVER 70 PERCENT FROM THE FLOOR! That’s historic level stuff.
For what it’s worth, Tacko is shooting 75 percent at the NBA level. What am I missing here? You’re telling me that guy can’t play 10 minutes a night, collect fouls, and become a problem in the paint? Nobody is outrebounding a 7-foot-6 giant in the middle either.
The Celtics should have been giving him a shot when Robert Williams got down as the third center. Daniel Theis is underrated but it’s not like the center unit for Boston has lit the world on fire. Vincent Poirier was getting minutes. Where’s Tacko?
Sure, Tacko is clumsy. Yes, he needs to be a better free throw shooter. How hard would it be for his to develop a skyhook? Nobody is blocking that shot. There is no downside here. Will the Celtics ever give Tacko a real opportunity? The better question is, what the hell are they waiting for?
