Why was WWE star Roman Reigns arrested?

While he might be ruling the roost in World Wrestling Entertainment as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, even The Tribal Chief himself isn’t above the law in the United States. This begs the question, when was Roman Reigns arrested?

Shortly before his wrestling debut on August 19th, 2010, Roman Reigns (real name Leati Joseph Anoa’i) was living in the state of Florida as he had been assigned the WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). It was in the city of Pensacola on June 20th, 2010 where the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion did what most of us like to do in our time off: drink, and drink he did.

Roman, who was living in Pensacola at the time, had quite a few drinks on this particular night and after becoming a bit of an inconvenience thanks to his behaviour, he was arrested by Florida State Police for disorderly intoxication and affray, unlawful assembly or riot. What that basically means for anyone who doesn’t know the legal lingo is that someone didn’t acknowledge The Tribal Chief because he was far too drunk and, in the process, got into a fight.

He would eventually be released on a $1,000 bond later that same night, while also being forced to pay $500 for each of his charges. Not many people knew about this until Roman had already debuted on the WWE main roster as part of The Shield, with his mugshot eventually circulating online in 2013. So if you see The Tribal Chief in a bar, be sure to acknowledge him, because if you don’t and he’s had one too many, you might just find yourself in an impromptu title match.

Roman Reigns has also been arrested in the storyline as well

Before he was The Tribal Chief, he was The Big Dog, and it’s safe to say that some people at the time didn’t take kindly to Roman Reigns getting in the way of their business. This led to Roman Reigns being ‘arrested’ on the March 19th, 2018, edition of WWE Raw in the lead-up to his eventual WrestleMania main event with Brock Lesnar.

Reigns had no-showed the previous week’s show and was suspended by Vince McMahon as a result, but when The Big Dog showed up a week later in Raw’s opening segment, he decided that he wasn’t going to go kindly. Reigns called Lesnar, ‘Vince’s Boy,’ and assaulted three U.S. Marshals (one of which was played by current AEW star Ricky Starks).

Realizing that he was probably the only person capable of keeping Reigns down, Brock Lesnar took it upon himself to beat The Big Dog down, even going as far as to tip over the stretcher that Reigns had been placed on following the savage beating he took at the hands of Lesnar. Reigns’ suspension was eventually lifted in March of 2018, just in time for their WrestleMania 34 main event which was … well, it happened.
