Which Team Selected DJ Uiagalelei In The 2023 MLB Draft?

Did you know DJ Uiagalelei played baseball? Well, he did in high school anyway if that counts? The 2023 MLB Draft wrapped up and one team actually took the massive college football quarterback in the baseball draft.

We appreciate the view and now I’ll go head and let the cat out of the bag. The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled the trigger on Uiagalelei in the 20th round of the draft. Apparently, the Dodgers reached out in April showing their interest months ago. Despite declining the offer, the Dodgers still took him.

“In April he told me they reached out to him after Clemson to see if he wanted to give baseball another chance offering a spot at a tryout,” Feldman said on Twitter. “He said he appreciated the invite but wasn’t tempted.”

DJ Uiagalelei is taking his talents to Oregon State this year. Football obviously remains his biggest priority right now with a chance to turn his career around with the Beavers. Just going to let everyone in on a secret. Oregon State is better than you think they are…

As for the Dodgers, they will still own Uiagalelei’s rights if he were to ever give baseball a shot. This isn’t really an uncommon thing. The Yankees still own Russell Wilson’s rights for baseball. If anything, it’s a free excuse to go to Spring Training. Uiagalelei is from the state of California too and I’m sure the Dodgers would welcome him with open arms even if it’s just to visit the facilities and meet the team.
