DJ Uiagalelei to Transfer to Oregon State

Since entering the transfer portal on December 5, there was a lot of speculation as to where the former 5-star quarterback, DJ Uiagalelei would transfer to. A disappointing career at Clemson would not be the end of his career, and Uiagalelei seemingly wants to revitalize it at Oregon State.

There were rumors of Uiagalelei transferring to Hawaii, however, that would be all smoke if this report were to ring true.

This would be a huge get for Jonathan Smith and the Beavers as all five starting offensive linemen will be returning, along with the offensive Pac-12 freshman of the year in running back Damien Martinez. Oregon State is coming off a 10-3 season and will be looking to capitalize with DJ Uiagalelei at the helm.

While Uiagalelei has not lived up to the hype he had when coming out of high school, he has flashed his potential in games this year. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound quarterback possesses ideal size and a rocket for an arm. Unfortunately, he did struggle toward the end of the year at Clemson as he was benched for sophomore Cade Klubnik. Coming off a 2,521-yard 22-touchdown season is nothing to scoff at. Not only that, but he found significantly more success on the ground this year with 545 yards and 7 touchdowns. The lack of production through the air was concerning, but by showing off his athleticism, Uiagalelei can win games. Uiaglelei will hopefully find more success in Jonathan Smith’s system next season. With all the intangibles the quarterback has, the sky is the limit.

The Pac-12 got a whole lot more interesting as Deion Sanders is cooking up a powerhouse at Colorado, and the Heisman-winning quarterback Caleb Williams will run it back again at USC. Not only that but state rival Oregon is getting Bo Nix back for another season. We’ll have to see if DJ Uiagalelei pushes the needle for Oregon State to make some noise in the division.
