Where Do Adin Hill, Golden Knights Stand On Extension Talks?

Goalies are landing extensions all over the NHL. Jake Oettinger just got a new deal today. Before the season started, Jeremy Swayman, Linus Ullmark, and Joey Daccord all got new extensions. Igor Shesterkin is the headliner of the free agent class for 2025… but what about Adin Hill?

Hill is a Stanley Cup goalie winner and he’s had a ton of success in Vegas. It turns out that despite all the traction on the goalie market, the two sides really haven’t talked about getting a new contract done.

“I talked to both sides this morning after Oettinger’s deal, (and) nothing has been going on this point, there’s nothing imminent,” Pagnotta said. “Conversations are expected to pick up in and around the New Year. Now, maybe Oettinger’s deal escalates things, but as of this morning, that’s kind of the mindset that they’ll tackle this towards the second half of the season, maybe just prior to it.”

You know where I stand if you’re an OG reader of this site (I would have traded him this offseason too). Throw the stats out the window with Hill. If you watch the games, he’s benefited greatly with the support staff in Vegas. Their D are incredible and he’s really not that good beyond the fact that he’s so damn big he takes up the whole net at 6-foot-6.

Vegas has approximately just shy of $30 million in cap space for the 2025 NHL free agency window if the cap sits at $92.5 million. There’s no reason to eat into that space. Especially given that the team expects to pursue Mitch Marner. Make Hill prove that he’s the number one guy. Outside of one hot postseason run, he hasn’t done that over the course of a full season.
