The Miami Heat are coming off an underwhelming 2022-23 regular season, where they finished 44-38 and found their backs against the wall in the play-in. They ultimately survived–despite coming minutes away from losing their second-and-final play-in game to Chicago–and rattled off a historically great playoff run.
Miami blew past the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks, outlasted the New York Knicks and squeaked by the Boston Celtics in the East Finals–becoming the only No. 8 seed in NBA History to advance to the NBA Finals, the team’s second in four seasons.
It lost to the Denver Nuggets in five games, but it was a very successful playoff run. Miami lost two starters to free agency and missed out on Bradley Beal and Damian Lillard during the summer, which didn’t help matters. Nevertheless, they still have a rock-solid core of Jimmy Butler , Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, among others. Can they get back to the big dance? Matt Hanifan and Jiarmani Depena preview their 2023-24 campaign here!
