Warren McClendon 2023 NFL Draft Profile
Georgia puts out the best prospects, year after year. Trey’s been beating this drum for a while, and it beats true every draft cycle. This year, they have another bounty of players and in this article, we will be talking about Warren McClendon. In the shadows of Broderick Jones, does he have any draft value? Let’s talk about it.
McClendon was a four-star recruit in the 2019 cycle, ranked as OT24. He saw next to no action, only earning real snaps in 2020, playing in 10 games, and only allowing two sacks. Over the next two seasons, he played in 28 games, registering over 1,500 snaps and not allowing a single sack at right tackle.
McClendon did not work out at the combine. Here are Trey’s full offensive line notes for your viewing pleasure.
I don’t know where I stand on McClendon. He’s got some tools you can work with. He’s got the frame to move inside if need be. Attached at the hip on double team assignments. Works hard in pass pro. I’d argue his strength is in the run game.
If he plays on staying at right tackle, there’s a lot he needs to work on. His kick slide is not great. Plays way too high. His feet seem like they have bricks attached to them, also devaluing him as a puller. Looks like he gets beaten to the first punch.
Georgia puts out a lot of quality prospects. I don’t believe Warren McClendon is one of them. They’re bound to not ALL be studs. I’d probably give McClendon a sixth-round grade as someone you look to bring in with a comp pick and hope something sticks. I am just not sure I could bring myself to pull the trigger.
