Verdict MMA Is The Future Of MMA Scoring, Embrace It

The current way of scoring MMA fights is having three people, most of who have never even put on a pair of gloves before, let alone been in a fight, sit ringside and judge based on a historically old way of scoring fights. There are a lot of times where they can get fights right, and sometimes they miss but not by much. But last night’s PFL main event between Rory MacDonald and Gleison Tibau should be the last straw. It is time to abandon this dated format for judging a winner and a loser in a fight and turn to Verdict MMA and let them take over and lead MMA into the 21st century. Don’t know what Verdict is?

What Is Verdict? How Does It Work?

Verdict MMA is an app that was launched back in October of 2018, which lets the fans decide who wins and loses a fight by having the fans score fights as the rounds ended for MMA events. Each fight will give you the option between rounds to give one fighter a 10 and the other 9 or less, and it keeps track of your scoring to see how you scored the fight. Look at it here.

For those of you that watched the fight last night and wondered how two judges scored the fight 29-28 Tibau, you weren’t alone. The fans who voted on this fight scored it very heavily for MacDonald. Need more proof of just how well Verdict MMA works and that MMA Judges should be kicked to the curb?

Max Holloway defeated Alexander Volkanovski in their rematch as per the Global Scorecard.

Anyone with eyes had Max Holloway defeating Alexander Volkanovski in their last fight, but the cage side judges disagreed. Had Verdict been in place and used as the official judging system, the right fighter would have won the fight.
