Game one of the Stanley Cup playoffs starts today! In the spirit of this amazing trophy and title, the staff at Vendetta Sports Media are doing a pool. Overall, the Western Conference seems to be the easier side to choose for. However, the Eastern Conference has made some big changes in picks. So here are the Vendetta Stanley Cup picks for the Round of 16.
For the Western Conference, Trey has chosen a fan favorite of the Vegas Golden Knights. He has also chosen Avalanche, Flames and Canucks. This lineup seems to be the more favorable pick.
Then for the Eastern Conference, he has chosen the Flyers, Lightning, Islanders and the Bruins. This is also another famous route that many people are taking.
For the Western Conference, Gavin has chosen Vegas Golden Knights, his favorite Avalanche, Flames and the Blues.
For the Eastern Conference, he has gone with the Flyers, Blue Jackets, Capitals and the Hurricanes.
Make sure you check out Gavin’s game preview posts, as well as his round breakdowns.
Scott’s picks for the Western Conference follow the trend of everyone else. He’s got Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Flames and the Blues to go through.
Then on the Eastern Conference, Scott has chosen the Flyers, Blue Jackets, Capitals and the Bruins.
Make sure to check out his posts about how the Toronto Maple Leafs seem to be a different team every game.
Karl’s picks are the same for the Western Conference as Gavin and Scott. This would include the Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Flames and the Blues.
However, on the Eastern Conference, he has chosen a different route from the others. Karl has the Flyers, Lightning, Capitals and the Bruins. He’s the first one to choose the Tampa Bay Lightning to go through.
Jackson has one of the Western Conference picks that is different from the others. He has chosen for the Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Stars and the Blues to move on. Jackson is one of the few that has gone with the Dallas Stars to win against the Calgary Flames.
His Eastern Conference is similar to Karl’s picks. This would include the Flyers, Lightning and Capitals. However, he is choosing for the Hurricanes to move through.
Jacob’s picks mirror’s that of Jackson’s. For the Western Conference, he has gone with the Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Stars and the Blues.
However, the Eastern Conference picks mirrors Trey’s. This would include the Flyers, Lightning, Islanders and the Bruins to move on.
Alex’s picks for the Western Conference are the same as the previous two. He has gone with the Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Stars and the Blues.
However, Alex’s Eastern Conference picks differ. Alex has chosen to go with the Flyers, Lightning, Capitals and the Bruins.
Andrew’s picks for the Western Conference are similar to the others. He has gone with the Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Flames and the Blues.
However, Andrew’s Eastern Conference picks are different from everyone else’s. He has gone with the Flyers, Blue Jackets, Islanders and the Hurricanes. If Andrew’s predictions are right, then he will be ahead of everyone else but quite a bit.
For Jarrod’s Western Conference winners, he has chosen a popular route that many have picked. He is taking the Vegas Golden Knights, Avalanche, Flames and the Blues.
Then for his Eastern Conference he has gone with the Habs in an upset, Lightning, Capitals and the Bruins. This makes Jarrod the only one to choose the Habs over the Flyers.
My picks coincidentally match the same as Gavin’s. I have my favorite Vegas Golden Knights going through with Avalanche, Flames and the Blues.
Then I’ve also chosen to take the Flyers, Blue Jackets, Capitals and the Hurricanes for the Eastern Conference.
The Stanley Cup pool is set up so everyone will take their picks as each round is revealed. This will allow us to maximize our points.
For choosing the correct Round of 16 winners, each person receives three points for each correct pick. Then the quarterfinal will be worth five points for each correct pick. The semi-finals would be seven for the right ones. Then for the final, choosing the overall winner will be worth nine points.
However, to help differentiate the leaders, we will be choosing who wins each game. This will include if we think it will stop by game four or continues. We must also choose who wins each game. If need be, we will be guessing the final score of the last game as well.
