USC WR Duce Robinson Transfers To Florida State

The transfer portal has been loaded with talent at almost every position, but the wide receiver position has been arguably the most talent deep position available. Among the top of the pool was USC wide receiver Duce Robinson. Many had Robinson as a top-five player in the portal left to commit, and he is now off the market as 247Sports.com is reporting that Robinson will be transferring to Florida State. His final three schools were Florida State, Arizona State, and Louisville.

What makes Duce Robinson among the top recruits in the transfer portal is his athletic ability for a guy his size. At 6-foot-6, 220 lbs, he is quick enough off the line to play outside as an X, but beefy enough if you wanted to throw him near the line of scrimmage to play almost like a tight end. Robinson flashed major upside with USC this past season, finishing with just under 400 yards and five touchdowns on the year. He was highly regarded after his freshman season where he finished fifth in the country in yards per reception at 21.09. A change of scenery could be just what the doctor ordered for Robinson.

Mike Norvell is bringing in the big boys for newly transferred quarterback Thomas Castellanos. Castellanos will now have Duce Robinson, Jordan Scott (6’7), Teriq Mallory (6’5) and Tae’Shaun Gelsey (6’4). It’s clear that Robinson possesses the highest upside out of the towering playmakers Norvell has brought in, but it makes you wonder about the depth of slot receivers or change-of-pace guys. How many quality speed demons do they have on offense? We are just going to have to keep an eye on this Florida State team in 2025 to see how it pans out and if they can rebound from a disastrous 2024.
