UFC Vegas 98 Best Bets

UFC Vegas 98 is a difficult fight card to bet on. Frankly, there are a lot of fighters that are hard to trust with hard-earned money. That means with have to hone in and find the few sports with value. Thankfully, that is possible. Here are three of the best bets available for UFC Vegas 98.

Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira U4.5 -135

The UFC Vegas 98 main event is a tough fight to bet from a moneyline perspective. Tatsuro Taira is currently a -310 favorite while Brandon Royval is a +250 underdog. This is a situation where I do not feel comfortable fading either fighter. Instead, I’ll be a prop. The best bet for this fight is the under four and a half rounds at -135.

I will gladly bet the under because both fighters have finishing upside. Taira is a terrific submission grappler. If these two grapple for significant periods, he could lock up a submission. In a less likely outcome, Royval will also hunt submissions from his back. On the feet, both fighters have power and are capable of landing knockout shots.

This fight also carries a cardio dynamic. Royval may have the best cardio in the flyweight division. At the minimum, he is on the shortlist. Meanwhile, Taira has never been to the championship rounds. If his cardio slips, Royval will be able to find a late finish.

This fight is a great fight for an under. It’s a matchup between two aggressive fighters with finish upside wherever the fight goes. On top of that, a finish could arise because of the cardio disparity in the late rounds. I’ll gladly bet the UFC Vegas 98 main event ends inside four and a half rounds.

Ramazan Temirov ITD +225

The second bet for UFC Vegas 98 is for Ramazan Temirov to finish CJ Vergara. Temirov is a sizeable -345 favorite while the comeback on Vergara is +275. I think the favorite can end this fight inside the distance. At +225, it has a bunch of value too.

This bout will be Temirov’s UFC debut, but he has a lot of experience outside of the promotion. At 27 years old, he has a 17-2 professional MMA record. The one thing that is clear from his time outside of the UFC is that he has legitimate power.

Temirov is an aggressive fighter who throws hard. In striking exchanges, he sits down on big hooks and straights. He can find these strikes because he has fast hands and is willing to take the risks required to land knockout shots. Plus, he has shown the ability to finish opponents with ground and pound once he gets them hurt.

I expect Temirov to be aggressive and land a shot that badly hurts Vergara. At that point, he has the finishing ability to get the fight called. At +225, there is a lot of value on Temirov to finish the fight. That makes it one of the best bets available for UFC Vegas 98.

Cody Haddon ITD +215

The final bet for UFC Vegas 98 is for Cody Haddon to finish Daniel Argueta. Haddon is a respectable -170 on the money line while Argueta is a +142 underdog. This moneyline is nearly in a playable range. If he were to get down to -160 or lower I would play it. Until that happens, Haddon’s inside-the-distance prop is the play. The juice on that bet is +215.

Haddon is making his UFC after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series. The bantamweight prospect is one of my favorite fighters from this season of the show. At the moment, I have him in the top tier of prospects.

Haddon showed a well-rounded game on DWCS. On the feet, he showed strong boxing. Haddon established his jab and eventually knocked his opponent down. After, he proceeded to land a submission in a grappling exchange.

I believe Haddon will hold a sizeable advantage on the feet. Plus, he is not a slouch in the grappling department. If he can hold his own against Argueta’s takedowns, he should be able to hurt him on the feet. Plus, he could also find a submission while grappling.

At +215, I’ll bet Haddon to find the finish. This is a fighter with a lot of skill and proven finishing instincts. That is enough to make me bite at the plus money. The likelihood of the outcome and price tag make this one of the best bets available at UFC Vegas 98.
