UFC Vegas 63 Best Bets

UFC Vegas 63 may not be the biggest card as it only has 11 fights scheduled, but that does not mean we cannot find some solid bets. There are a handful of underdogs and props that have value written all over them. Here are three of the best bets for UFC Vegas 63.

*All lines are taken from FanDuel and are accurate as of 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022. *

Calvin Kattar -111

The UFC Vegas 63 main event between Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen should be a tremendous fight, one that will be hard to call. The respective lines being set at -111 for Kattar and -115 for Allen reflect that.

This bout is incredibly close, but I like Kattar. Stylistically, Kattar’s power could make it more difficult for Allen to blitz and land with heavy volume. Kattar will also be slightly longer which will help him land his terrific jab and powerful straight.

Kattar has also been in four five-round UFC fights, while this will be Allen’s first. At a minimum, that experience will help Kattar if the later rounds are close. I expect that to be the case. In such a close fight, I cannot ignore Kattar’s experience. I like Kattar at a -111 price.

Chase Hooper by Submission +150

Chase Hooper is a compelling UFC fighter. On the one hand, he is a lengthy fighter with lethal submission skills. On the other, he is inexperienced with flawed striking. This makes him a tough fighter to bet on.

There are reasons to love him and fade him. In this case, I think there is good value in taking him to submit Steve Garcia at UFC Vegas 63 at +150. This reasoning is simple. Hooper’s biggest tool is his BJJ. While he has been developing other areas of his game, his BJJ is still his biggest strength.

In this fight with Garcia, the best path to victory is to get the fight to the ground and land a submission. Is that the only path to victory? No, but it is by far the most likely. In addition, Garcia has never fought a grappler with the pedigree of Hooper, and he has shown deficiencies in his grappling defense in the past. I like Hooper to win this fight by submission at +150.

Andrei Arlovski +200

At UFC Vegas 63, UFC legend Andrei Arlovski will fight Marcos Rogerio de Lima. Despite being 43, Arlovski has been successful recently as he has won his last four fights. Those wins have come as a result of a more refined and safe style. This keeps Arlovski ahead on the scorecards while staying safe from incoming strikes.

This fight between Arlovski and de Lima could go two ways. The first is that de Lima comes out strong and lands a knockout strike. The second is that Arlovski avoids the big strikes and de Lima tires as Arlovski wins the later rounds. With that in mind, I see a very reasonable path to victory for Arlovski, a +200 underdog. I think this line is far too wide and I will gladly take it.
