UFC Kansas City Best Bets

UFC Kansas City is an outstanding fight card filled with a ton of great fights. From a betting perspective, there are some solid betting opportunities to capitalize on. Here are three of the best bets you can make on UFC Kansas City.

*All lines are taken from BetMGM and are accurate as of 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. *

Edson Barboza +145

In the co-main event of UFC Kansas City, Edson Barzona will fight Billy Quarentilo. Barboza is the underdog as he sits at +145 while Quarentillo is the favorite at -175. I will take the underdog in this one.

Barboza has a lot of the tools needed to beat Quarentillo. In most fights, Quarentillo uses his toughness, cardio, and durability to tire his opponents out. That allows him to find more success offensively in the later rounds. The catch is that he has to pressure his opponents with a high pace to accomplish that. If he attempts to aggressively get in the pocket against Barboza that will give Barboza the chance to land countershots. Plus, Barboza’s movement will help him keep his back off the cage and fight Quarentillo at range. That will allow him to utilize his kicks and land more strikes. All in all, Barboza should be able to outstrike Quarentillo on his way to victory. I will gladly play Barboza as an underdog price.

Dustin Jacoby via Decision +175

At UFC Kansas City, Dustin Jacoby will fight Azamat Murzakanov. Jacoby is a -165 favorite while Murzakanov will be the +140 underdog. I am going to play Jacoby by decision at +175.

Jacoby is a highly accomplished kickboxer that has been able to utilize his striking in the UFC. In practice, Jacoby uses his striking and cardio to throw at a high volume over the course of three rounds. For the most part, Jacoby is able to stay on the outside and beat his opponents up with straight shots. Meanwhile, Murzakanov is a powerful striker that is willing to lose rounds in order to land a knockout finish. In that regard, Murzakanov has similarities to Jacoby’s last opponent, Khalil Rountree. Yes, Jacoby lost that fight, but he probably deserved to get his hand raised at the end of the fight.

At the end of the day, Jacoby has the skills to win this fight, his most likely path to victory is a decision, and in the past, he has shown he can execute that game plan. I feel comfortable playing Jacoby to win via decision.

Gillian Robertson ITD +200

Gillian Robertson is set to make her women’s strawweight debut at UFC Kansas City against Piera Rodriguez. This bout is closely lined as Robertson is the slight favorite at -135 while Rodriguez is a +110 underdog. I am playing Robertson to win inside the distance at +200.

I like Robertson to win this fight by submission. In her career, Robertson has won eight UFC fights and six of those came by submission. Robertson is a great grappler and understands that is her path to victory. This is important as she remains consistent in grappling and hunting submissions. I think that the move to strawweight will only help her grappling as she will be more physical than her opponents. I think Rodriguez can provide some resistance, but I do not think it will be enough. Rodriguez is well-rounded and has quick hands. That said, I do not think she can avoid the submissions of Robertson over three rounds.

I am playing inside the distance for some insurance, however. I do think Robertson has a chance to get a ground-and-point finish. At the moment, that is not a large part of her game, but since she is dropping a weight class it could play a larger role in this fight. I would rather avoid that risk. The submission line currently sits at +250 so I am giving away some value. Overall, I like still like the price of +200 for her to win inside the distance.
