Amazon Prime Video continues to bolster its lineup of analysts ahead of the 2025-2026 season. The streaming service, which will be broadcasting NBA games starting next season, has hired former Heat player Udonis Haslem.
Haslem had an astonishing 20-year career playing every season for the Heat. He settled into a veteran/player-coach role his last seven years of his career playing no more than 16 games in any of those seasons. It will be interesting to see if his last years as a player will help Udonis Haslem transfer seamlessly into the analyst role.
Udonis Haslem went undrafted but found himself on the Miami roster. He was a solid piece in his younger years, where he was a starter in five of his first six years. Haslem averaged around 10.1 points and 8.1 rebounds in those first six years. His role began to change, and he was receiving fewer and fewer minutes. Haslem was a role player for the LeBron James and Dwyane Wade-led Heat. Furthermore, he became a veteran locker room guy late in his career for Miami.
However, throughout his career, Haslem embodied the toughness and gritty work ethic that is Heat culture. He was a fan favorite in Miami, and he was respected by teammates, coaches, and fans alike. Also, he was a part of three Miami Heat championship,s which puts him up there as one of the players with the most championship rings. Now, Haslem will try to stay in the hearts of NBA fans as he transitions into a full-time analyst.
Amazon Prime Video is trying to build a respectable roster of analysts as they get ready to broadcast NBA next season for the company’s first time ever. There have been some analysts already signed by Amazon Prime Video, such as Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki. It seems like the company is following a similar path to the NBA on TNT by hiring former players.
However, Griffin, Nowitzki, and Haslem are slightly younger than the TNT crew and come from a different era of NBA basketball. It will be interesting to see how these personalities mesh on live television. Also, will the Amazon Prime Video crew be able to match the entertainment of the TNT crew, or will it be more focused on informing viewers? Ultimately, it will be intriguing to see if Udonis Haslem and his new co-workers will be able to have good front-of-the-camera chemistry next NBA season.
