Tyson Campbell 2021 NFL Draft Profile

Georgia product Tyson Campbell has gotten lost in the shuffle when it comes to the premier players at the cornerback position heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. In reality, that shouldn’t be the case because he’s a heck of a football player. After reviewing Eric Stokes, it’s Campbell’s turn in the profile. Let’s take a look at the Tyson Campbell 2021 NFL Draft profile.

Tyson Campbell checks in at 6-foot-2, 193, with 32 inch arms. The man is looooooong. Campbell was a five star recruit out of American Heritage High School in Florida where he was coached by former NFL cornerback Patrick Surtain. Yes, that same Surtain who played for Alabama and is also in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Campbell has a ton of experience. He played right away as a true freshman for the Bulldogs. This past season for Georgia in 10 games, he led the team with five pass breakups. He also notched one interception on the season.

Campbell has all the physical tools. He’s also twitched up and can unlock his hips with ease. This is a guy that you should be able to stick on an island if you want. Go tell him to play press man and don’t worry about his side of the field. Campbell has the ability to beat people up when he’s on top of his game.

Some of the minor concerns with Campbell are he’s better in man compared to zone. He doesn’t always stick to the receiver when he’s not pressing. His ball skills are okay. Not a ton of interception production. There have been times where it doesn’t look like he tracks the ball well. Campbell produced just a 10.5% career forced incompletion rate which really isn’t anything special.

Still, given that size, Campbell was able to run a 4.34 at the pro day which is flat out ridiculous. He’s a height, weight, speed darling for the position. There’s no denying that. I think the hope here is you can get yourself a better version of Deandre Baker without the character concerns.

I have Tyson Campbell very much inside the top 10 cornerbacks heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. The raw tools on Campbell are too good to pass up. He’s another corner that will likely go too long on draft because of the depth of the position.
