Tyler Booker is revered as arguably the best guard in the 2025 NFL Draft. Is that actually the case? We have plenty to talk about with this one, so let’s get into it. Here is your profile on the Alabama product!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 9, Week 13
Booker, 20, was a four-star prospect coming out of high school, playing for the heralded IMG Academy. The New Haven, Connecticut native was a tackle in high school but switched to guard once he got to Bama.
Still a young player, Booker contributed as a freshman, making Freshman All-SEC team. He started mostly at left guard after that, making Second-team All-SEC and First-team All-SEC this past year while being a team captain.
Booker checks in at 6-foot-5, 321, and he’s absolutely enormous. Talk about a dude who takes up a ton of space on the line of scrimmage. The playing style here is mean and strong. That dude is just not getting bull rushed. The mean part of that shouldn’t be ignored. He had the best quote at the entire Combine and his playing style is accurate to exactly what he said here.
“It’s legal assault out there, and I love football because the brand of football that I play, I make guys not love football anymore,” Booker said. “I do that every down by just giving it my all and letting them know I’m not gonna let up. The thing I love most about football is taking the love away from other people.”
Yeah… I’ll take this guy on my football team.
If you’re looking for red flags, they aren’t hard to find. It mostly has to do with the pure athleticism and you saw it at the Combine. A 5.38 time at the 40 with a 27 inch vertical isn’t exactly ideal. He’s not a twitchy player lacking that pure explosion. Stance and technique are good but there are times when you watch him, he relies on hand fighting rather than driving his feet. Does a good job staying low but the foot quickness is far from elite.
I really like Tyler Booker. He will probably become one of the better players in the draft. However, I have a late first/early second round grade on him. Would go higher, but he’s not quite an elite NFL athlete, and it’s fair to question if that will stick, considering he already had to switch to guard in college. Overall, a really good player that teams should covet on draft day.
