Tutu Atwell Probably Sucks And The Pick Will Still Never Make Sense

I’ll be the first to admit; I was super bullish on the Rams coming into the season. I still sort of am, but it’s hard to buy all the way in. Mostly because of bone headed mistakes. Months after the 2021 NFL Draft, the Tutu Atwell pick still drives me nuts today. What the hell are the Rams doing?

Look, I get it. You want to get Matthew Stafford as much as possible. Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and DeSean Jackson apparently wasn’t enough. Keep in mind, the Rams also picked Van Jefferson in the second round a year ago. Someone who I’m very high on.

Entering the 2021 NFL Draft, LA did not hold a first round pick because of the Jalen Ramsey pick. They also coughed over more first round picks in the Stafford deal. The Rams haven’t had a first round pick since they selected Jared Goff. At some point, the bill is going to come due on that.

With that in mind, it’s uber important to nail whatever remaining picks you have. In the second round, the Rams decided the one thing they needed more than anything else was a 100 pound receiver with virtually no chance for playing time. Good call, jackasses. WTF are you doing here?

The last time the Rams picked a guy like this, his name was Tavon Austin. How did that one turn out? The list of successful 165 pound receivers is basically zero. Odds are that Tutu Atwell will turn into a huge bust because history suggests that’s what happens 99 percent of the time. Even if Atwell turns into something, WHY is this the direction you’re going with the few remaining picks you have?

2021 NFL Draft Grades: NFC West

I don’t get the Tutu Atwell pick. I never will. For a team that’s on the verge of potentially winning a Super Bowl, this pick should be under the microscope moving forward. If the Rams come up short, let’s start with this idiotic decision for one to reexamine.
