Tua Tagovailoa is learning jiu-jitsu to help his falling issues leading to injuries

Tua Tagovailoa has installed a new training regimen, and it is quite interesting for a football player. Tagovailoa is learning jiu-jitsu to help his falling issues that lead to injuries last season, according to Cameron Wolfe.

Wolfe explained why Tagovailoa is introducing jiu-jitsu to his workout regimen.

“He is doing jiu-jitsu this offseason to learn how to fall,” Wolfe said about Tagovailoa, via Good Morning Football. “A lot of his injuries the Dolphins believe he had because he had issues falling. They are hoping he learns how to fall so that he stays on the field and proves he can be the Dolphins’ long-term quarterback.”

Last season, Tagovailoa battled many injuries, mostly concussions. He suffered two separate concussions, one where he was stretchered off in a Week 4 loss to the Bengals. The second time he suffered one was a grade three head cranial concussion, which held him out the remainder of the season on Dec. 25. He didn’t clear concussion protocol until around Jan. 31.

Tagovailoa took some major steps ahead in his game for the Dolphins last season, posting a career-high 25 touchdowns and only having eight interceptions in 13 games. He also had almost 3,600 passing yards too.

Tagovailoa faced some major backlash going into the 2022 season, as he only had a touchdown to interception ratio of 16-to-10. Miami still seems to be sold on Tagovailoa as their starter next season, though.

But, with his injury concerns, there still hasn’t been much speculation about giving Tagovailoa a mega extension. Though he’s proved a lot of people wrong, injuries continue to haunt the former Alabama quarterback.
