Tristan Wirfs is an alien. His playing ability, and his durability are so far out of this world I’m convinced he’s an alien.
First things first, Tristan Wirfs is one of the best offensive tackles in the league, and a case can be made for the best. If I had to pick a single tackle for a team for the next five to ten years, I’m picking Wirfs and not looking back. You can talk all you want about Andrew Thomas, but Wirfs has been playing at this high level ever since entering the league while Thomas is experiencing his first season even comparable to Wirfs. Also, Micah Parsons dominated Thomas in their matchup while Wirfs held his own, just saying.
Wirfs has allowed only four pressures this season on over 500 pass-blocking snaps. That is simply ridiculous. He has also only been called on three penalties for the entirety of this season. If the top offensive tackle group was not stacked with Trent Williams, Laremy Tunsil, and Lane Johnson then Wirf would easily be an All-Pro. But the only thing that is more impressive than his playing ability is his durability, and that’s why I’m convinced Tristan Wirfs is an alien.
I mean the number of freak injuries that this man has avoided is just simply ridiculous. Look at this play against the Cleveland Browns, for example, I am amazed that Wirfs has a chance to play this weekend after this play a couple of weeks ago.
The blitzing linebacker jumps six feet into the air and gets tackled onto Wirfs’ knee from a terrible angle. If you asked me, I would have thought his knee got shattered. You could have told me Wirfs blew out his MCL and ACL and I would have absolutely believed you. That fact that it was only an ankle injury is nothing short of a miracle.
The only logical explanation is that Tristan Wirfs is an alien. I am convinced of that now.
