What a year it’s been for TCU. The Horned Frogs became the first Big 12 school to represent the conference in the college football playoff. Somehow Sunny Dykes accomplished that on his first year on the job. Better yet, he’s landing some big time talent too. Trey Sanders hit the transfer portal and he’s making TCU his next stop.
Sanders made the announcement via social media:
Wide receiver JoJo Earle and offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer are also leaving Alabama to join TCU. Talk about a haul! TCU is just out here swiping former Alabama players left and right. Sanders was the number one running back recruit in the country in 2019. It’s a serious add for a TCU program that’s doing a hell of a job to elevate the way the general public views the program.
“We expect to compete against Alabama, not only in recruiting but on the field,” TCU coach Sonny Dykes recently told ESPN’s Dave Wilson. “So the thing you don’t want to start doing is taking a bunch of guys at Alabama that can’t play for them. Because in theory they shouldn’t be able to play for you either.”
Furthermore, TCU takes care of a position of need here. We don’t have a decision on the future of Kendre Miller but he’s expected to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft after the national title game. Back up Emari Demercado is also a senior and out of eligibility. Sanders should be able to step right in and become the bell cow for the Horned Frogs.
