Trevor Lawrence Will Be The Best Rookie Fantasy QB In 2021

Sometimes it really is that easy. Trevor Lawrence will be the best rookie fantasy QB in 2021, no question. A better question would be to ask how Lawrence stacks up with the rest of the league, and I will probably write on that in the future, but for now, I will examine why Lawrence is the best fantasy choice of the rookie QBs.

I should clarify this is more for the redraft fantasy league, as the question of the best fantasy rookie QB becomes that much deeper if we are talking about a dynasty league. There are a couple of QBs that might compete with Lawrence in that instance, like Mac Jones or Trey Lance, and although it is possible that neither player plays this upcoming season, their fantasy value in later years could surpass Lawrence’s. It is impossible to know at this point.

Lawrence has at least five weapons in his arsenal this upcoming season. DJ Chark Jr., Marvin Jones Jr., and Laviska Shenault Jr. make up Lawrence’s trio of capable receivers, and standout back from last season James Robinson will be joined by rookie Travis Etienne, a former teammate of Lawrence at Clemson. Etienne has been seen in a lot of receiving formations and has even lined up as a WR, and on the whole, Lawrence should have plenty of options when looking to move the ball downfield.

The only QB who can compete with Lawrence’s arsenal is Lance with the 49ers, but he might not even play this season with Garoppolo still in San Francisco. Even if Lance does play, the 49ers’ defense is stout while the Jaguars’ defense is not, which gives Lawrence greater fantasy potential as the Jags will undoubtedly have to throw more to stay in games. Try not to overthink it. Lawrence is the correct answer.
