Trevor Bauer Is Going To Win The Cy Young Award In 2019

I don’t gamble much but when I do, I like to go big game hunting. The last time I placed a large bet, it was when Khabib Nurmagomedov beat the shit out of Conor McGregor. If that fight takes place 100 times, Khabib wins 100 times. That was the lock of the year. This time we’re going to make a riskier bet but it’s a smart one. Trevor Bauer is going to win the Cy Young award in 2019.

Bauer, 28, has started the season out on a tear. Bauer became the first pitcher in MLB history to throw consecutive starts to begin the season allowing just one hit. That’s over 14 innings. His ERA sits at 0.64. That also includes 17 punchouts and a WHIP of .571. Of course, it’s way too early in the season to make crazy proclamations but Bauer is 100 percent as good as he says he is.

Sports Illustrated put out a piece on Bauer. It detailed his crazy workouts, his love for drones, and frankly how smart the guy is. He’s really smart. Bauer is one of the few players that understand the way things are. He understands his surplus value. Bauer has already said he wants to sign one-year contracts for the rest of his career and he’s going to make a hell of a lot more money doing so. It was only a matter of time before the light bulb click for the former 3rd overall pick from UCLA. Side note: how the hell did Arizona manage to give him away?

Prior to Opening Day, Bauer’s odds to win the Cy Young award were +1000. Ahead of him were Chris Sale, Luis Severino, and Corey Kluber. Sale’s velocity is a big concern, Severino is on the shelf, and Bauer has clearly surpassed Kluber. Bauer surpassed Kluber a year ago.

Trevor Bauer is filthy and disgusting in a good way. If the Indians are able to win the AL Central again, it’s going to be because Bauer led the way. So far, that appears to be the case. If you don’t do anything else today, go to your local casino and ask for the Cy Young award odds. If they look too good to pass, put a few buck on Bauer to win the award. It may just be the best thing you do all year.

The old timer baseball fan doesn’t like Bauer but that’s exactly why you should. He wants to be heard and he works his ass off. Indian fans better enjoy him while they still can.
