This running back class is so damn loaded and the headliner of the group is TreVeyon Henderson. After helping guide Ohio State to a National Championship, how will Henderson translate to the NFL level? I have no idea how you expect me to be creative with these intro paragraphs after so many of these so I’m just going to get to the point now. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on the Buckeyes RB prospect!
NFL Draft Stock Report: (My notes on Henderson go back years, but these are for the ones this year), Week 5, Week 6, Week 7, Week 10, Week 13, College Football Playoff First Round, Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, National Championship
Henderson, 22, was a former five star prospect during the 2021 cycle coming out of the state of Virginia. He was also the number one running back recruit in the country and made a serious impact right away for Ohio State as a freshman. Maybe the best stat in this entire draft class is the fact that Henderson had more RECEIVING YARDS than Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison in his true freshman season.
I went over the timeline here on a recent video, but I’ll give you the quick sparknotes version too. Henderson was arguably the best running back in the country as a freshman rushing for 1,248 yards at a 6.8 YPC clip with 15 touchdowns and then adding 27 receptions for 312 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He was nicked up as a sophomore playing eight games and wasn’t quite 100% as a junior. Then capped of his final season with over 1,000 yards rushing at a 7.1 YPC clip sharing the backfield with Quinshon Judkins.
The Ohio State product only had a limited Combine participation, but he ran extremely fast. There’s no question that the guy is fast, and he has an extra gear or two in the chamber, too. The 5-foot-10, 202, back just has a gear nobody else does in this class. The dude is a rare breed and if you just see him move, you understand why he’s a different animal. 4.43 speed with a 38.5 inch vertical only partially describes the lower body juice this dude has.
Henderson is truly a three down back. He’s the best pass protector in the draft, and it’s not close in that department. For a speed back, this dude has legit power, and it shows up over and over again in blocking reps. He’s also the best receiving back in the country. Sorry, but nobody else is doing this kinda stuff in a college football playoff game. Human evolution is real, and the best backs to come through the college pipeline are going to be the ones who can affect the passing game the most to make life harder on opposing defensive coordinator. With the way Henderson can block and be a total weapon in the passing game, I have a hard time understanding how anyone thinks someone is better than this guy.
This dude has real twitch and hasn’t fumbled a single time over 667 career touches. He’s automatic protecting the football when several in this class are not. He’s like a race car that zooms to a higher gear in the open field while having real power in his game. Has no problem running between the tackles and has a swagger/edge to him. He also notched 4.3 yards after contact, which is the third best mark in the class while playing against real competition.
It feels like the Derek Stingley story all over again. Clearly a monster right away as a freshman. Then the uneducated crowd gets their politics in the way. The rest is history. Don’t make that same mistake again with Henderson. The evidence was there as a freshman, and you’re a fool if you ignore it. AKA Brock Boewrs did this same thing a year ago.
Henderson isn’t just the best back in this class. He’s also the most well rounded with elite traits across the board.
Henderson is the best running back in this class, and I don’t really think it’s close. He’s a first round talent that some smart team will snag on day two and will be very happy about it.
Comp = Prime Zeke with the secret stuff juice of Jahmyr Gibbs injected into that.
