Tre’Davious White Suffers Torn Achilles
Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White has suffered a torn Achilles, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. As a result, it is expected that the All-Pro corner will miss the remainder of the 2023 season.
He was carted off the field in the third quarter of the Bills’ 48-20 victory over division rival Miami Dolphins.
The loss of White will be damaging to the Bills defense. The unit is currently having a great season, but it will be difficult to patch the void left by one of the top corners in the league.
The Bills made White the highest-paid corner in the league back in 2020. That title has since passed hands, but White has remained elite. Thus far into 2023, he tallied an interception and two deflections.
White, 28, has now suffered two detrimental injuries in the last three seasons. In 2021, he suffered a torn ACL that kept him sidelined for the remainder of the year and the beginning of the 2022 season. Those massive injuries have resulted in White playing just 21 games over the last three seasons.
In just three seasons, White has quickly racked up massive damage. At this point in this career, it will be important to see how White recovers from his Achilles tear heading into his age-29 season.
As for this season is concerned, the Bills cornerback room has quickly lost a ton of depth. At the moment, Taron Johnson and Christian Benford are crucial starters. Still, Buffalo will badly need a third corner to set up. Ideally, that will be first-round pick Kaiir Elam. That said, the Florida product has been a disappointment this far into his career.
