Top 10 Player in Class of ’22, Nick Smith Jr., Commits to Arkansas
FIve-star recruit and top 10 player in the class of 2022, Nick Smith Jr., committed to Arkansas in an Instagram Live with ESPN’s Paul Biancardi. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native is staying home to play for Eric Musselman in Fayetteville. Smith is the fourth recruit of the Razorbacks’ recruiting class, joining fellow top 100 prospects Derrian Ford, Barry Dunning and Joseph Pinion.
“I’ve been talking to Coach (Eric) Musselman every day since this recruitment process has started. Just talking to him about the goals that he has for me and the goals he has for the future of Arkansas. It really caught my eye, and really caught my parent’s eye in terms of getting to the NBA and helping me be ready for the league. The opportunities and plans he has for me were something I couldn’t pass up. Just talking to my parents about it, it made sense for me to stay home and go with Coach Muss.”VIA On3.com
Smith is a 6-4 combo guard that starred for Bradley Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer. In the Peach Jam title game, the premier AAU tournament in the country, he poured in 31 points in a loss to Team Final. He loves to have the ball in his hands and emphasized the importance of being the go-to guy in his interview with Tipton.
“The way I look at it, it wasn’t going to happen if I wasn’t going to be that. Coach Muss has been telling me that since day one.”VIA On3.com
