Mike Vrabel is out. Brian Callahan is in. Amy Adams Strunk decided that she is going to give Ran Carthon the power to run this franchise. The franchise will hire Callahan, the Bengals offensive coordinator, to become the new head coach in Tennessee.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was the first to report the news:
Callahan, 39, has been the OC in Cincinnati since 2019. The Bengals offense has been high powered since Joe Burrow was drafted. How much was Callahan involved in the genius of Cincinnati’s offense? Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor was very complimentary of Callahan.
“He establishes the whole structure of the offense,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said of Callahan. “He has helped develop every position we have. He’s invaluable. There’s really not enough things I can say about him.”
Brian Callahan is the son of Bill Callahan. The elder Callahan specializes in coaching offensive linemen. Something the Titans need to improve drastically. Will father Bill join the staff with the Titans? It would be a big help if he did while providing senior mentorship on how to be a head coach to Brian.
Replacing Mike Vrabel won’t be easy and this roster lowkey stinks. Plus, you kinda need to find a way to make Will Levis work or he may as well hand in the resignation letter now. Callahan might end up being a great head coach but this roster needs to improve in a big way for him to even have a fighting chance. The positive is that the AFC South continues to look like a very winnable division.
