Is It Time To Give Up On Evan Engram In Fantasy?

Is It Time To Give Up On Evan Engram In Fantasy?

Evan Engram looked like a rockstar as a rookie. The former first round pick out of Ole Miss was putting up historic numbers at the tight end position for a rookie. Since then, he’s fallen off a cliff. Still, Engram should be entering his prime and age 27 season. The production as of late has not been there. Is it time to finally give up on Evan Engram in fantasy?

Drops have been a major issue for Engram. He had a catch percentage of just 57.7% a year ago. When the ball was thrown in Engram’s direction, bad things normally happened. Worse yet, Engram finally played a fully healthy 16 game slate and scored just one touchdown. We already know Font hates him.

The Giants feel done with his bullshit. It’s why they brought in Kyle Rudolph this offseason. They didn’t stop there either. They also brought in reclamation project Kelvin Benjamin. That’s a desperation act right there. If the Giants were happy, they never pull the trigger on that experiment.

It’s sort of a make or break year here for Engram. He’s playing on the 5th year option and is set to hit unrestricted free agency after the season. This is contract time coming up. He could easily light the world on fire and finally become worthy of the guy the Giants thought they were getting. We have seen weirder things happen. Especially at the tight end position where it’s hard to find productive players.

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a sucker for Evan Engram. I’ve ate the cheese plenty in the past. The talent is too tantalizing. When it comes to 2021, I’ll likely pass just given the addition of the new tight end options on the roster. It’s going to limit his upside anyway you slice it.
