AEW has a very talented roster. Many of their top stars they signed from the independent circuit, but there is also a good number of wrestlers who are ex-WWE people.
When you have such a big roster, it is hard to get everyone on television who deserves it, especially when you only have three total hours of weekly television as AEW does. That leaves many wrestlers with nothing to do, which can be frustrating. Plus, when wrestlers feel like they aren’t being used properly, they may want to leave — it feels like now more than ever that’s the case.
So, let’s go over three AEW wrestlers who could make the move to WWE in 2023.
Malakai Black was released from WWE last year and joined AEW shortly after. He burst onto the scene and squashed Cody Rhodes in his first match with the company. That was a shocker, to say the least, but since then he hasn’t won any gold in AEW.
Black had a lot of success in NXT, but similar to many people who get called up to the main roster, he didn’t have the same success there. While Black hasn’t won any gold in AEW yet, he has formed one of the best factions in wrestling in “House of Black.”
Why House of Black wasn’t the inaugural AEW Trios Champions I’ll never know. Black has proven time and time again he is a skilled wrestler. But if he wants to find the success he had in NXT, he might move back to WWE. Plus, there were reports that Black was released from AEW earlier this year. Black is another Triple H guy, so he is someone who can definitely make the move to WWE in 2023.
Similar to Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo burst onto the scene in AEW after being released from WWE. Andrade is another person who had a ton of success in NXT, but it just didn’t translate in WWE. While he did win the United States Championship in WWE, his success on the main roster stops there.
However, in AEW he hasn’t had much success at all. He hasn’t won any titles and barely has any memorable feuds. AEW simply just doesn’t really know what to do with him. In fact, he has only wrestled 14 matches in 2022 for AEW, so that just goes to show that they don’t know what to do with him.
Andrade is someone who could definitely benefit from going back to WWE and it could happen in 2023.
Miro was also released from WWE in 2020 and shortly after that, he arrived in AEW. When he started, he was extremely dominant and did find success by winning the TNT Championship. But as of late, he hasn’t been on screen at all.
AEW just doesn’t know what to do with him currently, which is a shame because he is another extremely talented wrestler who hasn’t had the success he deserves. Miro has only wrestled four matches in 2022 and his last match came three months ago.
Miro has proven he can be a top-level talent outside of WWE and never got the run he truly deserves in WWE, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Miro went to WWE in 2023.
