I haven’t watched a ton of Netflix recently (I got an empire to run) but The Letter For The King is one I did watch. This show I felt the need to do a review on because I have a lot of thoughts. The Letter For The King should be described as classic Netflix.
Was it a terrible show? No, I’ve seen worse. The Crown made me want to poke my eyes out. Mad Men I’m still angry about the time I spent that I’ll never get back. In terms of Letter For The King? I would not recommend this show.
Again, when I do these reviews I don’t like to give a ton away. I want to give the details you should know going in but never provide spoilers. In this case, I don’t recommend the show so I’ll share a bit more information.
Basically what we have here is a teenager that’s in Knight School but comes from a wealthy family. Otherwise, he’d never be a Knight. Somehow he gets into the academy (based on family wealth) and immediately finds himself in a predicament. He comes across a dying soldier and he sends this kid on a goose hunt to give a letter to the king. K. It’s fine but whatever.
A: There’s no way this kid survives this journey.
B: There’s really no twist or turns involved.
C: The episodes dragged out so long that I thought I was watching a movie just totally zoning out.
D: The ending is terrible!
The ending left a sour taste in my mouth. What we have here is a classic standoff! Gotta love that… not. Tiuri (who is the main character which I probably should have stated earlier. You know, the teenager that stinks at being a knight.) meets an interesting girl along the way. It comes out that she has special powers. In the end, she has a stand off with the villain of the show.
When I say the end of this show left a sour taste in my mouth, I’m not exaggerating. The girl glows bright while the villain turns to dark smoke. It looks like the smoke will take over but then she glows brighter and wins. NOT A JOKE THAT’S HOW THE SHOW ENDS! There are better shows out there to watch. This one ain’t it.
