The Guilty Netflix review is here. The idea behind the movie is brilliant. However, does the execution match the idea? Read to find out. (Netflix Image)

The Guilty Netflix Review

So I’ve been back on the East Coast for a few days now and I’m sad. I’m ready to get back to Las Vegas as soon as possible. I’ve been back on my routine of watching movies real late at night instead of working. Up next on the Netflix reviews is The Guilty. Jake Gyllenhaal is in this one but does it live up to the hype?

No spoilers like always.

The idea here is really awesome. Get an inside look at a 911 operator? Not a bad movie idea. The execution? I’ll give it a six maybe.

The name itself is kinda misleading. The Guilty actually has to do with the 911 operator that has nothing to do with answering the phone on a 911 call. That’s the only part that kind of sucks. It would have made more sense if that part was used in another way.

Here is the rundown without giving it away. The movie opens up with some random 911 calls. Some are funny. Some are semi serious but easily taken care of. Then we have the call of all calls. The guy playing Jake Gyllenhaal becomes obsessed with this call until he finds a solution and stays way past his shift. Of course, there is an unexpected twist before another unexpected twist and then another unexpected twist that’s not really necessary.

That’s the movie.

Should you watch it? It’s not a terrible movie but not a fantastic one either. It’s also not a movie that will give you trouble sleeping so don’t be scared of nightmares either. I don’t regret watching it but don’t expect to be blown away.
