The Bengals Are Not Worried About Ja’Marr Chase Becoming A Diva

Ja’Marr Chase has made all the difference in the world for the Cincinnati Bengals. The 4 win Bengals are Super Bowl bound after drafting Chase in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Of course, a healthy Joe Burrow helps too.

Chase is on the fast track to stardom, which isn’t always a good thing for NFL receivers. The good news is, the Bengals are not one percent concerned about the former LSU product becoming a dive.

Troy Walters, the Bengals wide receiver coach, was very complimentary of Chase:

“He’s a rare type of guy where success really doesn’t change him. He’s been the same person, even in the preseason when he had all those drops. He hadn’t changed,” Walters said. “So he doesn’t change whether things are going well or things aren’t going well. . . . Very humble. Very even keel. Tremendous worker. . . . He doesn’t get too high, doesn’t get too low. If he messes up, he’s hard on himself. . . . He wants to correct it. I don’t ever see him getting that big head, becoming a diva. I’m going to stay on him. I let those guys know, even after his 200-yard performance, I let them know the next day that was the past. It’s all about what have you done for me lately. He gets it and he puts the work in.”

So we’re not worried about him becoming Chase Claypool? Thank goodness!

It’s weird how Chase’s season has gone. Remember when people were oddly concerned that Chase wasn’t going to be able to catch an NFL ball? I can’t believe that was a story. Months later, Chase is the record holder topping Justin Jefferson for the most receiving yards in a rookie season. Jefferson sadly is living a much different reality but also seems to have a great head on his shoulders.

It’s crazy to think this is just the rookie season for Chase. This dude is just a monster and has his head on his shoulders? Put him in Canton now at this rate.
