Thayer Thomas screams Bill Belichick draft pick. If Belichick doesn’t pick him, it’s because he’s really lost his ways. Then again, I thought Belichick was going to pick Hunter Renfrow and that didn’t happen so let’s proceed.

Thayer Thomas is someone I’m more interested in than the rest of the NFL Draft community. Mostly because we have seen players with his track record succeed before. The former NC State product might be a walk on but all I know is he can play. Thomas is second all-time at NC State for touchdown receptions behind Torry Holt.

Thomas didn’t get an invite to the combine but I anticipate his time would have been something in the Cooper Kupp range. 4.6 whatever. It’s not what he does. It’s not who he is and you’re going to have to get over it. Or don’t draft him which might happen anyway.

Thomas is a pure white slot receiver. Isn’t the first and won’t be the last. Thomas caught eight touchdowns a year ago but set a career high 642 yards in 2022. It should also be kept in mind that Devin Leary was one of the most overrated quarterbacks in college football. We have notes on Thomas during his Week 1 game against East Carolina. They never had an answer for him.

I might sound really praiseful right now but keep in context what I am trying to tell you. Thomas isn’t going to get drafted. It is what it is. However, once upon a time it looked like that was going to be the case for Renfrow too. I’m simply implying that don’t count out Thomas making an NFL roster and working his way toward being an effective slot receiver. It’s in the cards.
