Texas Basketball Commit Arterio Morris Accused of Abuse by Ex-Girlfriend

Arterio Morris, a 2022 five-star recruit and Texas Basketball commit, has been accused of abusive behavior by his ex-girlfriend. She posted the claims to her Instagram account last night.

According to Cadey May, Morris threatened her with violence when she considered ending their relationship before college. In two separate Instagram posts, she provided video and photo evidence, which included threatening text messages, details of a restraining order, and a Snapchat video of Morris allegedly brandishing a gun. She also mentioned that he had been previously arrested for violence against her. However, Morris’ mother and coach tried to convince her to drop the charges so as not to ruin the point guard’s NBA aspirations.

Arterio Morris has not commented on the allegations put forth by his ex-girlfriend. He may have limited the ability to comment on his Instagram.

While these are still only allegations, the evidence put forth by May is quite alarming when taken for what it is. If true, Arterio Morris’ basketball career may be in jeopardy due to his criminal actions. The University of Texas Athletic Department and head men’s basketball coach Chris Beard have not commented on this situation as of now. Morris is one piece of Texas’ 2022 recruiting class that ranked No. 5 in the country.
