Baseball is an old game. In over 150 years of its existence, there’s bound to be some weirdness surrounding America’s pastime. Ghost stories are abundant whether from players, fans, or others stepping into history. Today, we’ll be talking about haunted locations vital to MLB.
This Milwaukee-based hotel houses visiting teams when playing the Brewers. Many ballplayers staying at the Pfister experienced weirdness. Everyone from Bryce Harper to Adrian Beltre witnessed ghostly phenomena in this luxury hotel.
Former Cardinal teammates Marcell Ozuna and Carlos Martinez claimed they saw a ghost in Ozuna’s room. They decided to sleep all together in Francisco Peña‘s room for safety.
Texas Rangers pitcher Jon Gray is a ghost hunter who had the courage to investigate the hotel. Here is the video.
As baseball’s second-oldest stadium opened in 1914, you’d expect some spooky things to be going on in this storied ballpark. Therefore, many ghosts supposedly haunt Wrigley.
One of the spirits include former Cubs manager Charlie Grimm, who coached back in the ’30s. Security guards late at night have heard bullpen phones ringing with some thinking it’s Grimm attempting at a pitching change — he also been seen wandering the halls of the stadium.
Famous folk singer Steve Goodman is also said to haunt the left-field bleachers. He passed in 1984 from Leukemia and had his ashes scattered around Wrigley. He coined the song “Go Cubs Go” which is a rallying cry when Chicago is losing so it makes sense his ghost wants to stick around.
Most Cubs fans are familiar with legendary broadcaster Harry Caray. He was every bit a staple of Wrigley. Despite his passing in 1998, you may still be able to catch a glimpse of his ghost in his former press box. Fans and workers have witnessed an apparition hanging out above the crowd. Could this be him?
Rochester is home to the Red Wings, the AAA affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Their ballpark, Innovative Field is relatively new, only being around since 1994. The ground it sits on is very much haunted, however, and ghosts are very prevalent.
When the stadium was built, bones were dug up out of the ground. The site used to be an old warehouse and school, dating back to the early 1900s. An old paper company also used to exist and was haunted by the janitor.
As a result, noises are heard late at night with no one around, along with shadow figures. Lights and televisions will turn on by themselves for no apparent reason in the middle of winter, while the baseball offseason is present.
Everyone from security guards to Red Wings general manager Dan Mason have experienced some level of paranormal activity at Innovative Field. Head groundskeeper Gene Buonomo won’t leave the ballpark alone.
