The Bengals are on the verge of building something really special. They just have to not intentionally screw it up at this point. The trio of Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins, and Ja’Marr Chase might be the best quarterback and two-wide receiver combo in the NFL. As far as Higgins is concerned, he’s making it clear that he wants to stay in Cincinnati for the foreseeable future.
“Hopefully, for a long time, I plan on being in Cincinnati for a while,” Higgins said Thursday when asked how long will the team stay together, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Higgins, 24, has three consecutive 900 yards seasons to begin his career as a former second round pick out of Clemson. Higgins will head into the final year of his rookie contract heading into 2023. If Cincinnati is smart, they will find a way to get an extension done sooner rather than later. With Higgins expressing a desire to stay, the longer you wait, the more the price goes up. It’s just always how it works.
Is there a better WR2 around the league? Every team in the league would love to have Higgins on their team. It’s likely why there were trade rumors this offseason in case the Bengals don’t get a deal done. The Bengals have done dumber things in the past. Hopefully, they’re smart enough to get it done.
