Taylor Hall Is So Overrated

It’s usually not an accident when you play for four different teams over a four year stretch. There is usually something wrong with the player when that happens. Russell Westbrook in the NBA is a perfect example who continues to get tossed around the league like a dirty pair of underwear. Taylor Hall isn’t Westbrook level bad but there is no denying that this man is severely overrated.

Hall, 31, has been sent to Chicago in a salary dump. The primary motivation for this deal was to re-sign Tyler Bertuzzi. A guy that’s just better while playing the same position. Hall was skating third line minutes for the historic Bruins team. It’s just not a luxury they could afford anymore.

The eye test to me is a total accurate representation of his player card. Hall only really brings speed to the table. Something that’s slowly diminished over the last few years. His shot stinks and doesn’t finish nearly enough opportunities. An average defender that also has failed to make plays on the powerplay. This is the same guy that won an MVP Award during the 2017-18 season. We’re never seeing that guy again and the Bruins were right to dump him for whatever they could get.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence why Hall keeps being shifted around the league. Every team that ever gets their hands on him always expects more. I understand wanting someone competent to skate with Connor Bedard in Chicago. I just wouldn’t be surprised if it turns into another Buffalo experience. The last time Hall played for a bad team he posted two goals in 37 games for Buffalo in 2020 prior to getting shipped out of time at the deadline. Hall could easily be shipped out of Chicago again if they can rebuild some of his value.

By the way, I’ve been on this from the start. Now the people that tried to tell me why I was wrong are all quiet. That’s odd!
