Tanner Mordecai 2024 NFL Draft Profile

We’re running through the depth quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft so I can release my QB rankings. I got two more to go including Wisconsin signal caller, Tanner Mordecai. Let’s go over everything you need to know in this edition of the 2024 NFL Draft Profile series!

Mordecai, 24, is a six year college player. He was a four star recruit coming out of the state of Texas. Something that shouldn’t be ignored because Texas seems to have a knack for putting players out like this. You know, the shorter quarterback that can still sling it. Case Keenum and Baker Mayfield being examples of that. Mordecai checks in at 6-foot-2, 218.

Mordecai was basically a backup at Oklahoma for three years. Then he put up big numbers at SMU. Through 2021 and 22, Mordecai threw 72 touchdowns and 22 picks. That’s before he finished at Wisconsin. Frankly, Mordecai probably had to leave SMU because they had two guys that are better. The problem is Mordecai bombed while playing Big 10 football and that production never translated. He posted a 9-4 TD to INT ratio with the Badgers as a 6th year player.

There’s just not much here. Tanner Mordecai is a backup with no real ceiling. He’s an undrafted player for me but I wouldn’t totally be surprised if he somehow latches on a roster and becomes a Chase Daniel sort of guy for someone. Which… I guess isn’t so bad when you consider how much money Daniel made in the pros. It’s possible for Mordecai. He’s not a terrible thrower of the football. Just aren’t a ton of actual traits to work with.
