Super Bowl 50 Champion, Derek Wolfe, Kills a Rogue Mountain Lion

Former Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe has a Super Bowl win over the Panthers, but now has a win over a mountain lion too. Wolfe tracked and killed a mountain lion according to a Fox News report.

The mountain lion was to have been causing problems in a Colorado community. It had allegedly killed multiple dogs.

Wolfe spoke with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson on Monday about how the hunt went down.

“I got a call from a good friend of mine,” Wolfe said. “he called me and said, ‘Hey, there’s a cat up here. You want to come help?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, let’s go’.”

To catch the big cat Wolfe and his hunting dogs hiked over 9,600 feet. To make it even more impressive Wolfe did not use a gun to take down the 8.5-foot, 200-pound cat. Instead, he used a bow and arrow.

In the conversation with Tucker, Wolfe explained the physical toll that this hunt took on his body.

“I’ve been through some tough training camps, brother, but this hunt was – man – it beat me up bad,” said Wolfe. “I was beat up bad. I’m all cut up and scraped up. I was in full-body cramps [and] barely made it up there.”

While it is an impressive feat to kill such an animal, there was still some backlash against Wolfe for the hunt. Colorado Parks and Wildlife confirmed that the hunt was legal by the book.

Maybe hunting is harder on the body than an NFL training camp. Wolfe may think so after this exhibition.

In the NFL, Wolfe played for nine seasons. He was drafted in 2012 by the Broncos before moving to the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the 2020 season. His career peaked in 2015 when Wolfe helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50.

If this story shows anything, it’s that a Wolfe is higher up on the food chain than a mountain lion.
