Stephen Curry has signed a one-year, $62.6 million extension with the Golden State Warriors, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Thursday.
Curry, 36, was eligible to only sign a one-year extension due to the over-38 rule; coincidentally enough, his age-38 season will be the year of his one-year extension, which will be in 2026-27.
For the next three years, he will be on the books for a combined $178 million, according to Spotrac.
Curry is one of seven players who could be on contract past the 2025-26 season. Andrew Wiggins ($30.2 million) and Draymond Green ($27.7 million) have respective player options for 2026-27; Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hield have either partial or non-guaranteed deals; and Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis will be in the final seasons of their rookie contracts.
The gold medalist is coming off another All-NBA campaign, averaging 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists on 45.0 percent shooting, 40.8 percent from 3-point range (11.8 attempts) and 92.3 percent from the 3-point line. Curry won the league’s Clutch Player of the Year award after posting a remarkable 45.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per 75 possessions in clutch situations on 49.6/45.7/95.1 shooting splits.
Unless Curry signs another extension, the end of the 2026-27 season signals to be the the time for Golden State to hit the reset button. This team has done a reasonably good job developing recent rookies, but it’s going to take a whole lot more to smoothly transition into post-Curry era–whenever that time arrives.
