Steph Curry Wanted To Be Drafted By The Knicks In 2009

Poor Knicks fans can’t catch a break. Players either want to play for them, but things don’t work out OR Players just don’t want to play for them. This example is the former. Steph Curry will go down in history as maybe the best point guard in NBA history. Nobody changed the game quite like Curry in the modern era. What if he was a New York Knick?

The funny thing is, if it was up to Steph Curry, he would have wanted to play for the Knicks. He was hoping they would draft him back in 2009 on draft day:

“I wanted to go to New York and thought I was going to New York,” Curry said on Showtime’s “All the Smoke” podcast. “At the draft in the green room, I was like, ‘Oh, get to the eight spot and New York can get me.’

“And then I got the call from [former Warriors GM] Larry Riley, like ‘We’re going to pick you in the seventh spot.'”

Sucks to suck, Knicks. Instead, the Knicks drafted Jordan Hill with the 8th pick out of Arizona. He played just 24 games for New York before he was shipped out in the Tracy McGrady trade. TMac averaged 9.4 points per game with the Knicks in 2009-2010. Let’s be honest, even if the Knicks drafted Curry, they probably would have done some shit like that anyway. It’s the Knicks.

It’s been quite the news cycle for the Knicks. Begging LeBron to come to town if the Knicks can draft Bronny James. So, so sad. From Zion, KD, and Kyrie to Marcus Morris and Julius Randle. Can’t imagine being a Knicks fan.
