Everybody seems to think the Celtics need a bonafide center to win a championship. They might be right. The problem is there isn’t one that’s attainable without making the team significantly worse. Kendrick Perkins is the latest goof to come up with ridiculous trade so the Celtics can get their center.
Perkins is suggesting the C’s should swap Gordon Hayward for Steven Adams (which would be incredibly stupid) Enes Kanter responded to Kendrick Perkins perfectly:
A: Enes Kanter is probably better than Steven Adams. Kanter has a higher eFG%, PER, and rebounding rate.
B: Daniel Theis *MIGHT be better than Steven Adams. Theis may not be the rebounder that Adams is, but he stretches the floor a lot better and is a real threat from 3-point range. There’s a reason Brad Stevens likes using Theis. He makes the rest of the offense tough to guard.
C: Gordon Hayward is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Steven Adams. The Celtics aren’t trading Gordon Hayward so stop your dumb trade proposals. Hayward is shooting over 50 percent from the floor as a wing and over 36 percent from 3. Kawhi Leonard isn’t doing that. Paul George isn’t doing that. LeBron James isn’t doing that either. Google is free, look it up.
Here’s a thought. Maybe Gordon Hayward is really good. I know you want results right away but it took Paul George time to come back from his broken leg. Hayward is still getting comfortable. He’s already good and has room to go. Trading him for Steven Adams is totally laughable.
I have to admit, I love Kanter. He might be more known for being a social media pest, but Kanter is a team first guy. I’m glad Enes Kanter stuck up for his guy and put Kendrick Perkins in his place. Might be the worst trade proposal I’ve seen this year.
