The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a shocking trade. The Steelers season has not gone as planned. Pittsburgh is 0-2 to start their season and have already lost Ben Roethlisberger for the season. If you thought the Steelers were going to tank, think again. Pittsburgh has made a trade with the Miami Dolphins for stud safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The former Alabama safety has requested a trade and got the request granted. He’s on his way to Pittsburgh.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news:
Talk about a ballsy trade for the Steelers. I like Minkah Fitzpatrick but this is a little crazy. The Steelers are 0-2 and have to finish their season with Mason Rudolph. What if the Steelers end the season at 4-12? Is that impossible? This could easily be a top 10 pick. The Steelers may have thrown away the chance to draft their next quarterback. Maybe they believe Rudolph is their next guy? Seems a bit crazy to me. Especially for a team off to such a rough start.
I hate to say this, but this trade feels like a
It’s a crushing blow to lose a guy like this. In 2018, Fitzpatrick allowed a passer rating of 49.7 and completion percentage of 51.3. Both of those numbers were the best in the NFL. Fitzpatrick is quietly one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. He’s arguably the best player on the Dolphins. Not saying much, of course, but Fitzpatrick is the one true star Miami had.
The tank is on in Miami. The Dolphins have already traded Laremy Tunsil, Kenny Stills, and now Minkah Fitzpatrick. Kenyan Drake could be the next one dealt.
